My name is Andreas Tize and I live on the Sunshine Coast of BC. I am married and have a little daughter born in February 2011. I was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1992 with my family at the age of 14.
I spent most of my 20’s trying to figure out what and who I wanted to be, resulting in 10+ of post-secondary schooling, including being a certified Industrial Mechanic, a Commercial Helicopter Pilot, a certified Ski, Skydiving and Sailing Instructor. I have a Diploma in Media Resources (Documentary Film making, Photography, Web Design and Audio) from Capilano University, as well as a BA in Tourism Management from Capilano University.
I have over 10 years experience working in the Tourism Industry in varying roles from instructing sports, tour-guiding locally and internationally, to being in the senior management of a company employing over 50 people.
I just completed my Masters in Resource Management at Simon Fraser University in October of 2014. My Thesis topic focused on the legacies of the 2010 Winter Olympics and how they have impacted the Governance of the Squamish and Lil’wat First Nations, especially in their interaction with the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
I currently work as a Sessional Instructor in the Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Department at Capilano University, teaching Tourism Operations Management.
